But swapping this beast into a different vehicle is no simple task, and that's where G Force steps in offering a range of innovative solutions.

What is the Power Output of the Ford 7.3 Liter Godzilla Gas Engine?

The Ford 7.3 liter Godzilla gas engine is a roaring powerhouse, igniting the imaginations of performance enthusiasts. Blending old-school charm with modern hot-rodding capabilities, it offers a nostalgic yet powerful experience with approximately 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque right off the assembly line.

How does the Ford Godzilla stack up against the V8 legends of the past?

For those who seek more power, the Ford Godzilla engine is ready to deliver. It's constructed with a cast iron block, a forged crank, and aluminum heads that ensure both durability and strength, allowing it to handle high horsepower levels.

Proof of Concept—Godzilla to Mustang

Our project began with a car with lots of potential - a 2006 Ford Mustang convertible with a mere 25,000 miles on the odometer. The perfect car waiting to be transformed into a high-performance ride.

And the centerpiece? None other than the mighty 7.3L Ford Godzilla engine plucked straight from the engine lineup for the new super-duty trucks. The fusion of this powerhouse with our meticulously selected project car set the stage for an interesting transformation with power, precision, and fun.

Overcoming Installation Challenges

During our conversion, we encountered specific challenges and addressed them with the development of new products. Among these advances are custom motor mounts, engine lift plate, mock up block, and an oil cooler block-off kit.

Why do you need an oil cooler bypass for your Godzilla Swap?

Godzilla Oil Cooler Bypass from G Force

For a Ford Godzilla engine swap, an important component sometimes poses challenges: the oil cooler. The primary role of this device within the Ford Godzilla engine is to efficiently cool the oil, ensuring optimal engine performance. However, during the installation process, it can become an obstacle due to its size and location. In such instances, G Force offers a practical solution, our oil cooler bypass kit, allowing for enhanced flexibility in engine installation.

This ingenious kit provides the means to either bypass or entirely remove the oil cooler. By doing so, it significantly enhances the flexibility and ease of engine installation, ensuring a smoother transition from concept to reality.

What’s different about the engine mounts G Force designed for the Godzilla to Ford Mustangs Swap?

For a 2005-2023 Ford Mustang Godzilla engine swap, G Force engineered motor mounts to simplify the installation of a 2020 or newer Ford 7.3L Godzilla gas engine into your Mustang. Precision laser-cut from ¼" steel and powder-coated for durability, these mounts ensure a seamless and secure fit, which saves you time and money you’d have to spend fabricating them yourself.

What is a Godzilla Lift Plate?

The G Force Godzilla Lift plate is ideal for the removal and installation of this beast of an engine. Its heavy-duty construction offers multiple lifting locations for this 500-plus-pound engine, which climbs to 1000-plus-pounds with the addition of component parts. The lift plate includes intake port covers to protect your investment from debris until you’re ready to install it.

What is the purpose of a Mock Up Block?

Say goodbye to the hassle of maneuvering engines with cranes. Our Mock Up Blocks make fabricating custom motor mounts and test-fitting accessories easy due to its lightweight construction, making it effortless to position it in the engine bay by hand. These blocks are designed to facilitate the attachment of crucial components like the oil pan, motor mounts, headers, water pump, and intake.

For the Godzilla, our patent-pending slot-and-tab assembly ensures pinpoint accuracy in mounting positions for bolt-ons and engine accessories. We create a block that represents the Ford 7.3L Godzilla engine with unwavering rigidity, setting it apart from bolt-together or foam alternatives. The Godzilla mock up block comes with hardware for exhaust, motor mounts, bellhousing, oil pan, and water pump, and more.

The Result

Our experience demonstrates that the Ford 7.3-liter engine, known as the Godzilla, can be integrated seamlessly. It easily mates to the existing 5-speed transmission, complemented by an off-the-shelf flywheel. Moreover, we successfully integrated Mustang accessories with the engine.

When it comes to engine control units, the aftermarket offers a variety of choices. We utilized a stand-alone harness and computer, emphasizing the adaptability of Godzilla engines for various swaps.

In the end, we purchased a 2 1/2” cowl hood to accommodate the intake. A unique intake configuration with the throttle body facing forward streamlined the process.
