Transmission and Transmission Swap Information

A transmission swap involves switching the transmission in your vehicle from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or factory spec transmission to an aftermarket version like the 4L60, or 700R4. Yes, we have specs for the most common automatic and manual transmission swaps. Please keep in mind that this information is for reference only and cannot be guaranteed accurate.

In applications where a specific motor and transmission combination is desired but not offered from the factory, a transmission adapter allows the motor and transmission to work together. There are good automatic and manual options available for your Vortec or LS motor. We’ve broken down your choices in our article, “GM Transmissions for a Vortec or LS Motor.”

Our Z32 and Z33 LS adapter kits work with any series of Vortec, LS, or LSX motors. However, there are some differences in these motors. We’ve written Using the Right Spacer Plate which outlines what you need to know to make sure you’re using the right space plate.

You will need the following parts. The G Force GF-LSZ32-Adapter Kit, the Dowel Pin Kit - GF-LSZ32-D, Pressure Plate Bolts – GF_Z32PPB-KIT, and the Bolt Kit for the Flywheel GF-LSFB-SET. Unfortunately, we don’t offer the motor mounts or transmission crossmember you need.

The flywheel supplied in the Z32 kit is not SFI approved. However, G Force does offer SFI approved Flywheels for other projects. See all of our Flywheels here.

The flywheel bolts are GM - GF-LSFB-SET, and the pressure plate bolts are Nissan - GF-Z32PPB-KIT. Dowel pins are also required - GF-LSZ32-D.

Yes. The swap kit you are looking for is part number GF-A-SL. We also have a transmission adapter swap kit for the 1989-2002 Cummins to Allison. See GF-A-S.

No sorry. We do offer the adapter kit for the Ford 5R110 transmission - GF-F5R110-S and GF-F5R110-SL.

We have two Cummins to Ford Swap Kits—

1989-2002 Cummins to Ford 5R110 - GF-F5R110-S and

2003-2017 Cummins 6BT to 2006-2017 5R110 Ford - GF-F5R110-SL. Both transmission adapter kits include an adapter plate and flexplate. Details about each kit can be found on the product page. Just click the link for more info.
