LS to AR5 Assembly Instructions
LS to AR5 Tips for Faster Assembly
Hey, guys. Jordan from G Force
Today we're going to be assembling our LS to AR5 transmission adapter. The AR5 was a transmission that came in a Chevy Colorado, Pontiac Solstice, and some other similar vehicles.
This is a five-speed manual, and it came in 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive. The thing about this transmission adapter that's a little different from our others is that it utilizes a bellhousing adapter between the transmission and the bellhousing, rather than the bellhousing and the engine.
The G Force LS to AR5 transmission adapter comes with a billet aluminum bellhousing adapter, a slave cylinder spacer, a pilot bearing, and hardware kit. This kit utilizes a GM LS style 4L60 bellhousing and a stock Colorado slave cylinder.
So today we're going to install this kit onto our AR5 transmission. This adapter kit utilizes the stock AR5 bellhousings to make sure that it is a concentric fit.
So, we're going to slide it onto the dowels, and it's going to be a little bit tight of a fit, so you might need to give it a little nudge.
Now we're going to take our bolt kit, and bolt it to the transmission.
So next, we're going to install the slave cylinder spacer and slave cylinder. And, in our kit we include extended-length bolts to do so. So, you're going to make sure that you orient your slave cylinder this way. So that the ports are coming out in this direction.
Another thing to note, is that your slave cylinder is going to have a quick connect fitting on the side, and you have to press the pin out and utilize a adapter to go from this pin style fitting to a 3 or 4 AN clutch line. You'll also utilize a remote style bleeder for this setup.
Next, we're going to install the bellhousing to our bellhousing adapter.
Okay.
Now that the bellhousing is installed, you're almost ready to bolt this up to your LS engine. But before you do so, make sure to press this [pilot bearing] into the back side of your crank.
Another thing to note is that when you attach your clutch bleeder line and your clutch line, they're going to wrap around and then come through the hole that's in our adapter plate.
Other than that, you're ready to go. And now you can bolt your AR5 transmission to your LS engine.
