  • This Crossmember was designed to work best with the GM T56 originally from a 93-97 Camaro or Firebird. Other T56 transmissions may require installer modifications.
  • We recommend a polyurethane transmission mount. The GMTM is sold separately.
  • For the 1970-1974 F-Body frames the distance between the crossmember frame mounting holes is 30-1/2". To ensure proper crossmember selection be sure to measure your frame before you order.

This crossmember is installed with the G Force label facing the rear of the vehicle. However, another determining feature is the crossmember center tube which has a 1/2″ drain slot that is positioned on the bottom and on the passenger side next to the hump weldment.

This crossmember is installed so that the exhaust clearance humps are closed on the top and open on the bottom.

To use the provided 7/16″ hardware it is necessary to enlarge holes in your frame rails with a 1/2″ drill. If you choose to use the stock size 3/8″ hardware, it is strongly recommended to use new Grade #8 fasteners to compensate.

No brainer for an easy swap

I bought this cross member for my 97 lt1 t56 transmission swap behind my 350 sbc in my 1973 Camaro. Right away you could tell the good build quality, and it was easier sliding this crossmember in vs the original one the car had for its original trans. The fitment is great and still gives some room for slight adjustability if needed. Yes the holes on the subframe need to be opened up slightly which isn’t hard to do and they provide the hardware for bolting the crossmember to the car . For the price and quality, it’s a very good buy and saves me time and headache trying to figure out other means of getting my transmission swap to work.
