This transmission crossmember is installed with transmission mounting tabs positioned towards front of car, and  exhaust double humps  are on the top,  next to floor pan.

If you need them, aluminum spacers are provided to customize the height of your transmission mount. Position them between the crossmember and your GM three-hole transmission mount. Use longer bolts to insure full engagement into transmission mount. Some applications will not require any spacers.

Some vehicles of this generation are equipped with a transmission crossmember that bolts directly to the frame rail, while others are equipped with crossmembers that utilize tab that sits on the frame rails and are embedded with a rubber liner. The RCAE bolts directly to the frame rails using the factory frame holes. Do not use the rubber liner. Instead, use the provided 7/16″ hardware and enlarge holes in your frame rails with a 1/2″ drill-bit. If you choose to use the stock size 3/8″ hardware, it is strongly recommended to use new Grade #8 fasteners to compensate.

Great design but not perfect…

I ordered this crossmember for my 72 Chevelle with a TKO-600 trans. It fit well between the frame rails and lined up with existing bolt holes. However, the tail shaft of the TKO has a vertical rib that makes contact with the rear face of the crossmember even with all 4 spacer shims installed. I had to add an additional 3/16” of shims to get the trans 1/16” clearance. Cut a “v” or “u” shaped notch in your crossmember for perfection.

Great product, fantastic customer support

I bought a G Force crossmember for my 66 Chevelle to help with header/exhaust clearance. The product arrived quickly and looked great. The welds were top notch and the entire piece is well made. I had an install issue (the cars 56 year old frame was wider than typical dimensions by .5" which isn't uncommon). I called G Force and Jordan talked me through some suggestions. He was polite, happy to help and offered further assistance if his solutions didn't remedy the problem. His solution worked and I was able to install the crossmember easily. I would recommend G Force Performance to anyone and will be purchasing from them again. Keep up the great work!
