New Adjustable Width Crossmember
- This crossmember is designed for A-Body cars frames measuring wider than the standard 53-5/8" mounting hole center to hole center.
- It has removable end-tabs and comes with four 3/16" thick shims to bring the mounting width to a max of 54-3/8". If your frame measures wider than this dimension, give us a call to discuss further options.
- Fits Models: Chevelle, El Camino, Malibu, Monte Carlo, GS, Skylark, 442, Cutlass, F85, Grand Prix, GTO, LeMans, Tempest, Special, Sport Wagon, Vista Cruiser
- Fits Years: 64-67 and 68-72
- 1964-1972 Hardtops Only. Will not fit convertibles or El Caminos with boxed frame.

This transmission crossmember is installed with transmission mounting tabs positioned towards front of car, and exhaust double humps are on the top, next to floor pan.
If you need them, aluminum spacers are provided to customize the height of your transmission mount. Position them between the crossmember and your GM three-hole transmission mount. Use longer bolts to insure full engagement into transmission mount. Some applications will not require any spacers.
Some vehicles of this generation are equipped with a crossmember that bolt directly to the frame rail, while others are equipped with transmission crossmembers that utilize tab that sits on the frame rails and are embedded with a rubber liner. The RCAE bolts directly to the frame rails using the factory frame holes. Do not use the rubber liner. Instead, use the provided 7/16″ hardware and enlarge holes in your frame rails with a 1/2″ drill-bit. If you choose to use the stock size 3/8″ hardware, it is strongly recommended to use new Grade #8 fasteners to compensate.
